Description
For one of my classes this semester(Fall 2022), my team was tasked with determining a good location on campus to put a vertical axis wind turbine that was donated to Olin College. One important input into making that determination is measuring the wind speed in some different spots. To do this we designed and built a 32ft aluminum tower on which an anemometer is mounted. For this project, I did all the design/fabrication and got to practice some stick welding for the steel base as well as machining some coupling for the two 16ft tower sections.
